On the site of and using the facade ofth the former town hall building - Town has been inhabited since the Neolithic Age.
Ernest Hemingway lived and wrote here and "For whom the bell tolls" was about attrocities commited here during the Sanish Civil War. Nationalist sympathisers were thrown off of the bridge next door to the hotel.
