New Years Eve 1967 Evel Kneivel tried to jump the Hotel's fountains. He crashed and it was misreported that he spent 29 days in a coma. His son Robbie completed the jump in 1989
In 1968 Frank Sinatra moved his act here from the Sands. The next day Jay Sarno sold the hotel for US$60 million
In 1973 Mohammed Ali fought Aussie Joe Bugner and won
In 1980 he fought and lost to Larry Holmes going for a fourth World title
In 1981-2 the hotel grounds were turned into a Grand Prix race track
From 1973 - 85 the Caesars Palace Tennis Tournament attracted the world's best players

Jay Sarno still had access to everything in the hotel even after he sold it and he died there in 1984 after having his version of a perfect day - 27 holes of golf, dining at the Bacchanal Buffet, played gin then went upstairs with a beautiful girl (He was divorced)
They were fined nearly US$10 million for failing to implement money laundering controls
