Not cheap. It depends on how much you decide to spend on accommodation. Things are expensive here as it is a remote location but you will spend your days walking around looking at free things. There aren't a lot of expensive restaurants and night clubs to spend your money in.
So it will balance itself out and you will get to experience a very special place that not many people get to see and make some amazing friends. Plus it's one of the corners of the earth. Only 3 more to go.

but you're looking at $2,000 - $4,000 a night. This does include fine dining and plenty of activities. It would be an excellent choice for honeymooners. It has 29 rooms and suites with floor to ceiling windows looking out over the ocean. As well as a cinema and an art gallery.
All furniture and furnishings are made by the locals and may have their name and when it was made attached. All staff are locals. It would be hard to find a more friendly hotel.
Meals and tours are included and it has a minimum 3 night stay during peak season. Guests are paired with local hosts who sow them around. The hotel is very innovative and has won a lot of awards. Even if you're not staying here it's a nice place to go for a meal. Just book online well in advance.
If you are not splurging there are much cheaper options scattered about the island. You'll need to contact these places to find out prices and make bookings. These are all in Fogo Town.
Features -
Long Studio, Squish Studio, Tower Studio, Bridge Studio, Short Studio, Fogo Studio and Fogo Inn Studio are all iconic art studios scattered around the island where visiting artists come and do their work.
The idea is to connect them and the island to promote art, culture and the economy.
Do your own studio hunt and cross them off your list. Some can be seen from the walking trails.
They were commissioned by the Shorefast Foundation which is committed to helping the island survive and preserve its culture. It was set up by returning islander Zita Cobb and her two brothers. She made her fortune in optical fibre and returned home and wanted to give something back. They set up the Fogo Island Inn which helps and gives back a lot to the community.
Fogo and the Change Islands were among the earliest settlements in Canada.
The town of Tilting was first settled by the Irish in the early 1700's. They came before the potato famine for the fishing and decided to stay.
Today it is still Irish with signs in Gaelic and locals speaking in thick Irish accents. Because they are so isolated their accents have been preserved from 18th century Ireland.
In the mid 1960's overfishing by large ships caused the industry to collapse. By 1992 stocks were close to extinction and the government had to put a moratorium on fishing for cod.
Many islanders left or had to find other means of support.
They have turned to tourism to keep the economy going and stay on this island that they love.
