Chief's Island in the centre of the Okavango Delta (the 1,000th World Heritage Site and one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Africa) in the Moremi Game Reserve. The island is 70 km x 15 km and only accessible by light aircraft or boat

Budget -
Not cheap but what safaris are? For a luxury trip it will be well over $2,000 per person per day. Includes everything including international flights. You'll need to go on an organised tour through an agency. This includes transfers by light aircraft and world class guides.
Mobile Camping trip $3400 - $5600 for 7 days also through an agency.
Cheaper trips can be organised from Maun the entry and exit point. Also day trips and overnight boat safaris are available from Maun.

Any time of the year is ok but between May and August there is extensive flooding in areas and it will be more boat and mokoro (local canoes) trips than game drives and walking safaris.

There are only 3 lodges on Chief's Island -
12 Luxury Bush Pavilions with your own pool and the Geoffery Kent Suite. It regularly ranks in the world's top Safari destinations in Conde Nast and Travel & Leisure. About US$1,000 - $16,000 per night
9 Luxury Tents at the northern tip of the island. Has all the facilities like swimming pool, viewing deck, dining room, lounge , bar, gym etc etc.
An extension of Mombo Camp with 3 luxury tents.
The other option is a mobile tented safari that might be slightly less luxurious but even more exciting due to where you set up camp. Or you could do a combination of both.

It was the traditional hunting grounds of Chief Moremi the Batawana Chief. In the 1970's it became a part of the Moremi Game Reserve. It is one of the largest islands in the delta.
